Photo requirements and limits
A listing can carry up to 10 photos, each up to 8 MB, in JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, and the first photo becomes the cover.
The limits, in one place
- How many: 10 photos on a listing posted through the full form at /post.
- File size: 8 MB per photo. Anything larger is refused with the file name in the message.
- File types: JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF. Nothing else is accepted, which on an iPhone usually means a HEIC file needs converting. If that is what you are hitting, read "My photos will not upload" in this section.
- Cover: the first tile in the row is the cover and is labeled as such. It is the image people see in the feed, in search results and on the card inside a message thread.
- Minimum: one. The Post button stays disabled until a photo is attached, and the form says so rather than leaving you guessing.
Quick Post and the edit screen have their own numbers
- Quick Post is built for listing several things at once: 5 photos per item, up to 3 items in a batch.
- The manage screen, which is where you edit a listing after it is live, holds 6 photos and its picker accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. If you posted 10 photos and later open the edit grid, do not add more there expecting a tenth slot.
Jobs are the exception
A job post has no photo gallery at all. It requires a company logo instead, under 4 MB. Everything else about job posts is in the Jobs guide.
What happens to a photo after you upload it
Jinu rotates the image upright, resizes the longest edge to 1600 pixels, re-encodes it and strips the embedded metadata, including GPS coordinates. That removes hidden location data. It does not remove anything visible in the frame, which is a separate problem worth two minutes of your time: read "What to crop out before you upload" in this section.
Video
Video uploads are turned off while the safety scanning for video is finished. If you find a video control anywhere, it will report that and nothing will be lost. Photos are unaffected.
Price is optional. Photos are not.
You can publish without a price, and some sellers do on purpose. You cannot publish without at least one photo, outside of jobs.
