Change your avatar and display name
Both live in the same place: Settings, then Your account, then Edit profile. Changes apply everywhere on Jinu at once, on your profile, on your listing cards and in every conversation you are part of.
The default avatar
If you have not uploaded a picture you are given the Jinu bubble mark in white on a colored circle. The color is picked from a set of ten, led by the brand blue, and it is chosen consistently from your account so it does not change from screen to screen. It is a real avatar rather than a gray placeholder or your initials, which is why an account with no photograph still looks like an account.
You can pick your color in Edit profile without uploading anything. That is often enough to make you recognizable in a busy inbox.
Uploading a picture
- Settings, Your account, Edit profile.
- Choose the avatar and pick a photograph, or take one.
- It is cropped to a circle, so keep the subject centered.
A few practical notes. It is a public image on a page strangers read before deciding whether to meet you, so avoid anything that gives away where you live, and avoid photographs of other people, particularly children. Avatars are covered by the Community Guidelines like any other content: a hateful or sexual avatar is reportable and will be removed. Removing your uploaded picture returns you to the colored bubble.
If you signed in with Google or Apple, your first avatar may have come from that account. Once you upload your own, yours is what everyone sees.
Display name
Your display name is the name shown to other members. If you have never set one, Jinu builds a readable name from the front of your email address, which is usually not what you want a buyer to read. Set it properly.
- A first name and an initial is enough for most private sellers.
- A business should use the business name, and should answer Dealer or business when posting a vehicle.
- Do not impersonate another person or business. That is one of the report reasons.
- Your display name is separate from your handle. Changing the name does not change your profile URL.
What changing them does not do
It does not change your email address, which is a separate control under Login and security, and it does not affect reviews already published about you. It also does not defeat a block: someone who blocked you stays blocked, by account rather than by name.
