Following people on Jinu

Following a seller means you are told when they post something new. It is a one-way subscription, it does not need their approval, and it gives you no access to anything you could not already see.

Following someone

Open their profile and choose Follow. The button is not there on your own profile, and it is not there if that seller has turned follows off in their settings. Unfollow from the same button.

You can follow companies as well as people, using the same control on a company's listings.

What following does

• You get an alert when they post. A new listing or job from someone you follow sends you a notification, if you have that type on.
• Their new items appear in your following feed, which is a feed of the people you follow rather than of everything near you.
• They are told they have a new follower. Once per person per day at most, so repeatedly following and unfollowing cannot be used to pester somebody.

Following does not tell them what you looked at, does not let you message them without them being able to reply, and does not affect prices, offers or your place in any queue.

Who can see it

Follower and following counts are on a public profile, and the lists can be opened, with a cap on how many entries a visitor sees. Two things narrow that:

• A seller whose Public seller profile is off publishes no follower count and no follower list. The owner still sees their own.
• A member can turn off Allow follows in Settings under Marketplace, Buying & selling. Existing followers can still unfollow, but nobody new can follow.

Turning the alerts down

Settings, then Marketplace, then Notifications. The row is People you follow, and it has one switch for email and a separate one for push, so you can keep following people quietly. There is also a do-not-disturb window if the timing is the problem rather than the volume.

Blocking and suspension

Blocking and following do not mix, by design. You cannot follow somebody you have blocked or who has blocked you, in either direction, so following cannot be used to keep watching a person who cut contact with you. When an account is suspended, every follow edge touching it is removed in both directions, so a suspended account is not left sitting in anyone's followers list with a Follow button beside it.
