Instant transfer requests: Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, wire
The problem is not the app, it is that these payments are instant and final: once money reaches a stranger there is no chargeback and nobody to appeal to.
How the methods compare
| Method | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cash, in person | Best for local | Inspect the item and count the cash before anything changes hands. Meet in public. |
| Credit card | Good | Chargeback protection. Best for shipped items through a proper checkout page. |
| PayPal Goods and Services | Good | Buyer protection applies. Friends and Family with a stranger waives it. |
| Bank or wire transfer | Risky | Irreversible once sent. Only for people you know. |
| Zelle | Risky | No buyer protection. Instant and permanent. |
| Venmo | Risky | Friends and Family has no protection, and the Goods and Services option is not always available. |
| Cash App | Risky | No buyer protection. Cannot be reversed. |
| Cryptocurrency | Risky | Irreversible and anonymous. A scammer favorite. |
| Gift cards | Never | No real buyer or seller needs them. |
| Check or money order | Never | Forged routinely, and a bank can credit then reverse it. |
The traps around instant transfers
- The upgrade fee. A fake email says the buyer sent extra to upgrade you to a business account and you must send that amount on to unlock it. No payment service works this way, and no payment service asks a seller to send money to receive money.
- Friends and Family. A buyer who insists on it is asking you to waive the protection. A seller who insists on it is asking you to.
- The deposit to hold it. A buyer sends a small deposit so nobody else takes the item, then vanishes or reverses it. Do not hold items for strangers on the strength of a transfer.
- Screenshots. A picture of a completed transfer is not a transfer. Check your own account.
What to do instead
For a local deal, meet in a public place and use cash, and count it before you hand the item over. For anything shipped, use a method with real buyer protection, and read Courier and shipping scams first.
Jinu takes 0% of a local cash sale and never handles the money, which also means Jinu cannot reverse a payment for you. That is the reason the method you choose is the whole decision.
