Your email address stays private

Jinu does not publish the seller's email address anywhere on a listing, and the email we send about a new message does not show the sender's address either.

What is actually hidden

• On the listing. The seller's contact address is removed from the page and from the data behind it before it leaves our servers. There is no address to copy, and there never was one on the page.
• In the notification email. When someone messages you, the email shows their display name or a neutral label, never their address, and not even the part before the @ sign. That is deliberate: for most people the part before the @ is their real name.
• In the reply path. That email has no reply-to that reaches the other person. The button takes you to your inbox, and the reply goes back through Jinu.

What is not hidden

Anything you type. If you write your phone number or your personal email into a message, you have handed it over, and Jinu cannot take it back. Wait until you have agreed to meet, and even then a first name and a public meeting place is usually all that needs to change hands.

Your display name and profile photo are visible to the person you are talking to, as theirs are to you.

The one exception: job applications

Applying to a job is not the same as messaging a seller. An application deliberately sends the employer your name and your email address, along with your message, your answers and your resume if you attached one, because an employer has to be able to write back to you directly. If you would rather not share an address, do not apply through the form.
