Change the email address on your account

Open Settings, go to Edit profile under Your account, and use the Email row. Jinu sends a confirmation link to the new address, and the change only takes effect when you open that link. Until then you keep signing in with the old address.

Step by step

  1. Go to jinu.app/settings.
  2. Under Your account, open Edit profile.
  3. Find the Email row and start the change.
  4. Type the new address and submit.
  5. Open the new inbox and click the confirmation link. A confirmation is also sent to the old address, so keep access to both until the change is done.

Why nothing changed yet

Because the link has not been opened. Jinu never changes the address on request alone: that is what stops somebody who briefly has your session from moving your account to an address they control. If the link has not arrived, check the spam folder, and check for a typo in the new address, which is the usual cause of a link nobody ever receives.

Errors you might see

  • "That email can't be used. Try another." The address cannot be used on this account. We keep that message deliberately vague so nobody can use the form to find out which addresses have Jinu accounts.
  • "That's already your email." Exactly what it says.
  • Too many requests. Change attempts are limited to five in ten minutes, because each one sends mail. Wait and try again.

Signing in afterwards

Once you have confirmed, sign in with the new address. A sign-in link sent to the old address before the change is still a link to your account; after the change, request a fresh one at the new address instead. If you signed in with Google or Apple rather than with an email link, that connection is what signs you in and changing this address does not move it.

One thing to watch

Some things you created before the change, such as listings and conversations, carry the address they were created with. If something you expect to see under your account looks missing after an email change, write to hello@jinu.app from the new address and say what the old one was, and we will reconnect it. Do not create a second account to work around it: that splits your listings and your reviews across two accounts.
