Do I need an account to use Jinu?
Not to look around. Browsing, searching, filtering and opening any listing all work with no account at all. You need a free account for two things: messaging a seller, and posting a listing.
What works signed out
- Browse and search the whole marketplace, in every category.
- Open a listing, see its photos, price, description and location.
- Open a seller's public profile and read their reviews.
What needs an account
- Messaging a seller. A conversation has two sides, and the other person has to be able to reach you back.
- Posting a listing. Including drafts.
- Making or accepting an offer, saving a listing, following a seller, and leaving a review.
Why messaging is gated
The account requirement is an anti-spam measure, not a growth tactic. An open message box on a local marketplace fills with scams within days, and the people it costs most are the ones selling a sofa for eighty dollars. Requiring an address means a member who behaves badly can be blocked, and blocked once means blocked for good rather than blocked until they reload the page.
What it costs
Nothing. Accounts are free and there is no password to invent: you enter an email address and follow the sign-in link Jinu sends you, or you continue with Google or with Apple. Local cash sales stay at 0% forever, so Jinu never takes a cut of what you sell. Some categories charge to publish a listing, which is a separate thing from the account.
