Your username and display name
Your username is the address of your public profile: jinu.app/yourname. Your display name is the name buyers actually read, on your profile, next to your listings and at the top of a conversation. They are two separate fields and they do not have to match.
Where to change them
Open Settings, then Your account, then Edit profile. The fields are labeled Display name and Public username. The username field shows a fixed jinu.app/ in front of it so you can see the link you are building, and the help line underneath reads "Used in your public profile link."
Username rules
- 3 to 30 characters.
- Lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. Anything else is stripped as you type.
- It has to be unique, and some handles are reserved. Anything that reads as official Jinu staff or support is refused.
You already have one
Every member is issued a username automatically when they join, so your profile has a working link from day one. Two things about how it is generated are worth knowing. It is never built from your email address, because that would publish a guessable address at a crawlable URL. And when nothing safe can be derived from your name, you get a neutral handle beginning with member_, which carries no personal information at all. Either way you can change it.
What each one is used for
- Display name. What people read. Change it whenever you like.
- Username. The link. Changing it changes your profile address, so an old link you have shared stops resolving.
Being found by name
Members can search for people by display name or username. If you would rather not appear in that search, turn off Searchable profile in Settings, under Privacy. It is on by default. That setting controls people search only; it does not hide your listings.
