How the cash part of a trade works
On a trade offer, the amount is the cash you are adding on top of your item. It is not what your item is worth, and it is not what the seller is paying you.
The three shapes an offer can take
- Cash. No item, one number, at least $1. This is what the seller receives for theirs.
- Trade. Your item and nothing else. The cash amount is zero and there is no minimum to meet.
- Trade plus cash. Your item and money on top. The money has to be at least $1, and it goes one way: from you to the seller.
Estimated value is not money
The estimated value field on a trade offer is context for the seller, so they can see what you think your item is worth without hunting for it. Jinu never treats it as part of the price, never compares it to the asking price, and never moves it anywhere. If your item is worth more than theirs and you expect money back, Jinu has no way to express that in an offer. Work it out in messages and agree it between yourselves before you meet.
What the seller sees
The offer arrives in their inbox showing your item, your photo if you added one, and the cash on top if there is any. A pure trade never displays as $0 to them, it displays as the item you named.
Money never moves through Jinu
Whatever cash is involved in a trade, you hand it over in person. Jinu does not hold it, does not transfer it, and has no record of whether it changed hands. See "Jinu never holds your money".
