Jinu never holds your money

There is no escrow on Jinu and no payment protection on the item. Jinu does not hold, move, or refund money between a buyer and a seller, and it is not a party to your deal. You pay the other person directly.

What that means in practice

Nobody at Jinu can reverse a payment you made, release funds you are waiting on, or arbitrate who is right about an item. If money has left your hands, the only routes back are the other person, your bank or card issuer, and the police. That is why the way you pay matters more here than the price does.

How to pay so this is not a problem

  • Meet in person, look at the item, and hand over payment at the same moment.
  • Refuse to pay in advance, however plausible the reason. A deposit to hold an item, a fee to arrange delivery, and a payment to a shipper are the three most common versions of the same fraud.
  • Treat any request for a wire transfer, a money order, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or a payment app used in "friends and family" mode as the end of the conversation. None of those can be reversed, which is exactly why they are asked for.
  • Never send or read out a verification code someone messages you. A code you are asked to relay is being used to take over an account, never to prove who you are.

The only money Jinu charges

Jinu charges to publish a listing in some categories and to Boost one, and both of those are paid to Jinu by the seller. Jinu takes nothing from the deal itself: a local cash sale is 0 percent, permanently. If anything on Jinu asks you to pay a fee to a buyer or a seller in order to complete a sale, it is not Jinu and it is not real.

If something goes wrong

Report the listing or the account from the listing itself, using the more menu and then Report, and read Meet in a busy public place before your next meeting. For an urgent safety issue, write to safety@jinu.app. If you have lost money, report it to your local police as well: Jinu can remove a listing and act on an account, but it cannot recover funds.
