Why deals gate reviews

Because a rating is only worth reading if the people who wrote it actually dealt with each other. On Jinu you cannot review someone you merely messaged. A review requires a transaction both of you confirmed, and that single rule is what the whole reputation system rests on.

What this rules out

• Bought reviews. There is no way to review an account you have not transacted with, so a seller cannot pay strangers for five stars.
• Self-reviews. A deal has to be between two different accounts, enforced in the database rather than only in the interface.
• Review bombing. Somebody who never bought from you cannot rate you, however annoyed they are.
• Stacking. One review per person per deal. Ten messages and one purchase is one review.
• Retaliation. Reviews are double-blind. Neither of you sees the other's until both are in, so a bad review cannot be answered with a worse one written in response.

The cost of that, stated plainly

Two things follow, and they are the honest trade:

• A genuinely bad experience that never became a deal cannot be reviewed. If someone wasted your time, no-showed, or turned out to be running a scam, the review system is the wrong tool. Report them, and block them. That is what Report a person rather than a listing and Block a user are for, and a report reaches moderators, which a review would not.
• Ratings build slowly. A new seller has no stars because they have closed no deals, not because anything is wrong with them. Both apps show a rating on a card only when there are real reviews behind it, rather than showing a hopeful empty five.

What a rating on Jinu therefore means

That a number of people who confirmed buying from this seller rated the experience afterwards, without being able to see what the seller said about them first. Read the written comments and the count, not only the average: three reviews at 5.0 is a much weaker signal than forty at 4.7.

And a rating is still not a guarantee. It says nothing about the item in front of you today. Keep doing the same things whatever the rating says: meet in public, inspect before paying, and never send money ahead. Meet in a busy public place is where those start.

Ratings are not identity checks

A rating and the check mark beside a name are different signals and neither is a Jinu endorsement. The check mark means that seller chose to verify their own phone number; Jinu does not verify sellers, run background checks or inspect what they are selling.
