Auto-flagged by multiple reports
Once three different people report the same live listing, Jinu moves it to Under review automatically and it drops out of the public feeds until a moderator looks at it. Nobody decided that individually; it is a threshold.
How the count works
- It counts three distinct human reporters, not three reports. One person reporting a listing repeatedly counts once.
- Reporters are counted by email address, case-insensitively, so different capitalizations of the same address cannot be split into separate people.
- Jinu's own automated safety flag does not count toward the three. A machine flag cannot manufacture a community consensus.
- A listing already under review is not flagged again.
- The reason recorded against the listing is Auto-flagged followed by the number of distinct reporters.
Why it works this way
The alternative is that a listing several people believe is a scam stays in the feeds until a human gets to the queue. Taking it down at three and reviewing it afterwards is the safer direction, and it is reversible: a moderator can put it straight back.
The reporting tool is hard to turn into a weapon, too. Reports are rate limited by network address, anonymous reporters have to pass a bot check, and one person cannot reach the threshold alone.
If this happened to your listing
- Read it as a stranger would. Three unconnected people thought something was wrong. The usual causes are a price far below market that reads as a scam, a photograph obviously taken from a manufacturer or another listing, a title that does not match the item, or a description asking buyers to move to text or to pay by wire or gift card.
- Check the category. Wrong category is one of the report reasons and it is used often.
- Check whether it already sold. Already sold is another, and leaving a sold item live earns reports. Mark it sold instead.
- Fix and wait. You can edit it from My listings while it is held. A moderator decides either way.
What you will be told
If it is approved it becomes live again and you get a push notification. If it is removed you get a push notification and an email with the reason and how to appeal. You are never told who reported you. That is deliberate and it is not negotiable: see Reports are anonymous.
If you think it was coordinated
Reporting to get a competitor taken down is itself a violation, and so is using extra accounts to do it. Email safety@jinu.app with the listing URL and what you know. Do not retaliate by reporting them: it makes the picture harder to read, and it puts you on the wrong side of the same rule.
