Pending payment: an unfinished checkout

By far the most common reason a listing never appeared is that it is in a paid category and the payment was never completed. The listing exists, it is yours, and it is sitting at Payment pending. No one is reviewing it and nothing is going to change on its own.

Which categories this happens in

Jobs at $20, Services at $5, Property at $3, Stays at $3, and a vehicle posted as a dealer or business at $3. Every other category publishes free, so a free listing can never be stuck this way.

What actually happened

When you submit in a paid category, Jinu saves the listing first and then sends you to Stripe to pay. The listing is filed as Payment pending until Stripe tells Jinu the payment succeeded. If you closed the tab, pressed back, abandoned the card form, or the payment failed, that confirmation never arrived.

While a listing is at Payment pending:

  • It is in none of the feeds and its public page will not open.
  • It cannot be edited, because editing a listing waiting on a payment would change what was being paid for.
  • No fee has been taken. You have not been charged for a checkout you did not complete.

How to get it live

A Stripe checkout session expires roughly 24 hours after it is created. When it does, Jinu moves the listing back to Draft automatically and clears the hold, so you can publish and pay again cleanly. That is the recovery path, and it is why the fix is usually to wait for it rather than to fight the stuck copy.

  1. Open My listings and find the listing.
  2. If it now says Draft, open it and choose Finish and publish. You will be sent to checkout again, with a fresh session.
  3. If it still says Payment pending, the old session has not expired yet. Leave it and come back; it will become a draft.
  4. Pay, and Stripe returns you to Jinu. The listing goes live once the payment confirmation lands, which is normally seconds.

Do not post it a second time

Posting again while the first copy is pending gives you two listings for one item, and if the first one recovers you will be paying twice. Wait for the pending one to become a draft and re-publish that.

If you think you paid

Check Settings, then Your account, then Billing. Every completed payment has a Stripe invoice there that you can open and download. If there is an invoice for this listing and the listing is still not live, that is a genuine fault: email hello@jinu.app with the invoice number and the listing title. A pending card authorization that never completed can appear on a bank statement and then disappear; that is not a charge, and no invoice will exist for it.

A note on refunds

A publishing fee pays for publication, not for an outcome. It is not refunded for a listing that is later removed, held or rejected under our Community Guidelines or the Prohibited and restricted items policy.
