Browse by category

Open the category control to the left of the search bar. It opens a two-pane menu: the list of categories runs down the left, and the subcategories of whichever one you are pointing at fill the right.

Using the menu

  • Moving over a category on the left swaps the pane on the right to its subcategories.
  • Clicking the category name opens that whole category.
  • Clicking a subcategory opens the category narrowed to it.

The busiest categories are listed first (Vehicles, Property, Jobs, Electronics, Furniture, Services, Stays and Free Stuff), and the rest follow in alphabetical order. The menu is a plain text list on purpose: it used to show every category and every subcategory at once, which meant reading a wall before you could choose anything.

On a phone

The equivalent is the All categories control beside the search field on the home screen, and the category row across the top of the feed. Once you are inside a category, the subcategories appear as a row of pills you can tap to narrow.

Where you end up

Every route lands on jinu.app/browse with the category applied, and a subcategory adds a second narrowing on top. On a computer the page carries a breadcrumb above the title, so you can always see how far in you are and step back out one level at a time. There is also a full directory of every category at jinu.app/categories.

Browsing is anonymous

You can browse every category, open every listing and use every filter without an account. Signing in is what lets you message a seller, make an offer, like a listing or post one of your own.
