Choosing the right category
Pick the category a buyer would look in, because the category decides which filters they can narrow with, which feeds you appear in, and in five cases whether posting costs anything.

Three that catch people out
- Property is the housing category. There is no separate real estate category. Houses and apartments, for sale and to rent, all go in Property, and the For Sale or For Rent choice is a subcategory you pick inside the form.
- Stays is not Property. Stays is short-term and vacation accommodation, and the booking happens off Jinu, on your own site or on whichever booking platform you use. A twelve-month lease is Property. A weekend cabin is Stays.
- Pet Supplies is supplies. Food, crates, tanks, collars, grooming kit. Selling, rehoming for a fee, or trading live animals is not allowed on Jinu at all, in any category. See Prohibited and restricted items.
Subcategories
Every category has subcategories, and picking one is worth the extra second. A buyer browsing Furniture sees everything; a buyer who has narrowed to Sofas & Couches sees a much shorter list, and yours is in it. Subcategories also drive the filters: choose Cars & Trucks and the buyer gets year, make, model, mileage and transmission to filter on.
Category and cost
Category is what decides the publishing fee. Jobs cost $20, Services $5, Property $3 and Stays $3. Vehicles cost $3 when you are posting as a dealer or a business and nothing when you are a private owner. Every other category is free for everyone.
That is not a reason to file something in the wrong place. Wrong category is one of the reasons a buyer can report a listing, and a listing in the wrong category is one a moderator can remove.
Changing it later
Open the listing from My listings and edit it. If you move a listing into a paid category, the fee for that category applies.
