Why every price is in US dollars

Because Jinu is a United States marketplace and the money changes hands in person, in dollars. A seller types a dollar amount and every buyer sees that same number, with no conversion in between.

There is no currency conversion anywhere

Jinu deliberately does not convert prices, and this is the reason. A converted price is a guess: it depends on the rate at the moment the page rendered, and the buyer then turns up with cash that does not match. On a board where the payment is cash between two people, showing an approximate number would cause exactly the argument the price is there to prevent. Switching your language to Spanish does not convert prices either.

How prices are shown

• Whole dollars, with no cents: $1,235, not $1,235.00.
• A listing with no price shows Contact. Setting a price is optional.
• A price of zero shows Free.
• A listing whose price has dropped shows the old price struck through beside the new one, and it can appear on the deals shelf.

What does follow your language

Dates, times and the grouping of large numbers are formatted for the language you chose in Settings. The words around a price are translated as well, so Free and Contact appear in Spanish for a Spanish reader. The dollar figure itself does not change.

Fees you pay to Jinu

Publishing fees and boosts are charged in US dollars through Stripe. Your card issuer may apply its own conversion and a foreign transaction fee if your card is not a dollar card. That is between you and your issuer, and it is shown on the Stripe checkout page before you pay. Your invoices are in Settings, under Your account, Billing.
