What Jinu is, and what it is not

Jinu is a local classifieds board. Sellers publish what they have, buyers find it and message them, and the two of you agree the price and hand over the item yourselves. Jinu is never in the middle of the money.

What that means in practice

• Jinu does not process payment between a buyer and a seller. There is no wallet, no escrow, no Jinu checkout for the item itself. When you pay a seller you are paying them directly, by whatever method the two of you agree.
• Jinu takes 0% of a local cash sale, permanently. The only things Jinu charges for are publishing a listing in certain categories and optional paid placement, both covered in Is Jinu free? What costs money and what does not.
• Jinu does not inspect items, hold goods, or guarantee that a listing is accurate. A listing being live is not a statement by Jinu that it is safe, lawful, or as described.
• Jinu does not run background checks on members. The only identity signal on the platform is optional phone verification a seller completes themselves.
• There is no buyer protection and no refund scheme, because there is no payment for Jinu to reverse. Instant transfer requests: Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, wire compares the payment methods and says which ones carry their own protection and which carry none.

What Jinu does do

• Screens every listing automatically at the moment it is published, against blocked keywords, prohibited and restricted commerce patterns, fair housing rules on property listings, scam patterns, and a safety classifier. A match either refuses the listing or holds it for a person to look at.
• Gives you a report control on every listing and every profile, and acts on what is reported. See Reporting and moderation.
• Keeps the conversation on Jinu, where messages are screened for scam patterns and where blocking actually cuts contact in both directions.
• Ties reviews to transactions both people confirmed, so a rating cannot be bought with messages.

Browsing, messaging and posting

Browsing needs no account at all. Messaging a seller and posting a listing both need a free account, because both put you in contact with another person and both need somewhere to send the replies.
