Block a user

Blocking cuts contact between you and one other person immediately, in both directions, without telling them and without waiting for anyone at Jinu to act. It is the fastest control on the platform and you do not need a reason to use it.

How to block

  • From their profile: open the more menu, the three dots, and choose Block. You are asked to confirm.
  • From a conversation: open the thread's own menu in your Inbox and choose Block this user.

What a block actually does

It is symmetric. It does not matter who blocked whom; both sides lose the same abilities.

  • Neither of you can message the other, on any listing.
  • Neither of you can make or accept an offer to the other.
  • Neither of you can follow the other.
  • Neither of you can apply to the other's job posts.
  • Their listings disappear from your browse, search, home feed, following feed and notifications. Yours disappear from theirs.

If the check that enforces this cannot be completed, Jinu treats the pair as blocked rather than letting the message through. A safety control should fail toward silence.

What a block does not do

  • It does not tell them. There is no notification and no badge. They will find out only by trying to contact you.
  • It does not delete the conversation you already had. The history stays; new messages are what stop.
  • It does not report them. Blocking is private housekeeping. If they broke a rule, report them as well, or moderators never learn about it.
  • It does not hide your listings from the world. Only from that one person. For a broader change see Turn your public profile off.
  • It cannot stop a determined person opening a second account. Doing that to evade a block is a violation, and grounds for terminating every account involved. Report it if it happens.

Seeing and undoing your blocks

Settings, then Privacy and trust, then Blocked accounts. Every block you have made is listed there with the date, and unblocking is one control. Unblocking restores messaging and makes their listings visible to you again; it does not restore a follow that was there before.

Blocking versus reporting

Block to make it stop for you. Report to make it stop for everybody. They are not alternatives, and in a harassment situation the right answer is usually both, in that order: block first so the contact ends now, then report so it is on the record.
