Suspended accounts
A suspended account can still sign in and read Jinu, but it cannot publish anything or reach other members. The suspension applies the moment it is set, on every device, and does not wait for a session to expire.
What a suspended member can no longer do
- Post a listing, of any kind, free or paid, including a job post.
- Publish a draft, or edit a listing back into a live state.
- Renew an expired listing.
- Bump a listing.
- Boost, which means paid placement cannot be bought.
- Follow anybody new.
- Write a review, or reply to a review left about them.
- Pause or unpause listings.
Their existing listings are hidden as well: the ones that were live are pulled out of the public feeds, their profile page stops loading for visitors, and their follow connections are removed in both directions.
The message shown when a suspended account attempts one of these is: Your account is suspended and cannot post right now. Contact support if you think this is a mistake.
What deliberately still works
Suspension is meant to stop somebody publishing and reaching people, not to strip them of the ability to close out or to defend themselves. So these stay open:
- Marking a listing sold. That takes an item out of the feeds, which is the direction we want, and it stops buyers who saved it waiting on something that is gone.
- Answering a deal confirmation. The other party cannot close their own sale or open their review window without an answer, and refusing it would punish them rather than the suspended account.
- Reporting. A report reaches moderators and publishes nothing. A suspended person reporting the scammer who set them up is a report we want.
- Verifying a phone number, which proves who somebody is and is often part of an appeal.
If your account is suspended
Email safety@jinu.app from the address on the account, with Appeal in the subject line. Say what you were told, what you believe happened, and why you think the decision was wrong. Where practical the appeal is read by somebody who was not involved in the original decision. If we find the decision was wrong we restore the account; if we uphold it we tell you the rule that was applied.
Do not open a second account in the meantime. Evading enforcement is itself a violation, and it turns a suspension you might have won into a termination of every account involved.
A publishing fee already paid is not refunded on suspension or termination.
If somebody you were dealing with is suspended
Their profile stops loading and their listings vanish from the feeds. If money or goods are outstanding between you, do not wait for them to reappear: keep your evidence, contact your bank or payment provider if you paid, and email safety@jinu.app with the listing URL and the detail.
